I hope this post finds you well. We have had typical New Mexico weather today in the high desert... Alternating bouts of a little rain, a little wind, a lot of wind, sunshine, the warmth of the sun and the chill of a distant winter. But, for now it's calm and lovely.
On to the topic...
Forgiveness is a touchy and misunderstood topic. But, as I discuss in chapter 15 of my book, the lack of forgiveness can seriously and negatively impact your health. The unwillingness to forgive is a toxic and dangerous emotion that will eat you from the inside out, making you sicker by the day until it consumes you and destroys your health. And, It can literally make you the person you never wanted to be.
Many people mistakenly believe that forgiveness conveys a sense of, "What you did is ok," to the offender. That is not the case at all! Forgiveness is largely for your own benefit - unless the other person is seeking it, then it's mutually healing - so that you can begin to heal and move forward, living life abundantly.
In my book I describe the act of forgiveness as allowing you to "throw off the chains of bondage and step out of the self-imposed prison in which you've been living."
Don't be held captive a moment longer. I urge you to release yourself from the suffocating burden of unforgiveness. Whether it's yourself you need to forgive, or another person. Do it now and live the life in freedom that you were meant to live.
Live well. Be well. Love abundantly.
